Crossybara: Nonogram Slam!
A downloadable game for Windows
Small-Leaf the Capybara lost the fruit he was going to bring to the hot spring to stack ontop of his head! can you help him scavenge for the lost fruit and save the day? Crossybara: Nonogram Slam! is a new take on the regular Nonogram/Picross puzzle, Instead of solving the puzzle to reveal a picture, you are solving to reveal the level. loads of enjoyable platforming gameplay with a side dish of brain-bamboozling puzzles!
Made in around a week in GMS2 as a fun little side project to make with my brother over winter vacation. The controls are a little fast and the gameplay is a little experimental, But the game is made with a lot of love and I hope you enjoy playing :)

Controls:
- ARROW KEYS - Move player and puzzle crosshair
- SPACEBAR- Jump (Hold Spacebar to climb vines)
- C - Toggle puzzle mode
- R - Hold to reset puzzle
- T - Toggle Speedrun timer
- X - Mark or unmark a tile
- Z - Fill or empty a tile
- ESC + Z - Quit game
Controls and information about how picross puzzles work are included on signs at the start of the game. If you would like to play the game purely for the platforming and without the puzzles, Press the red button in the first room as if it was a regular tile.
Notice:
If the game boots up in a very small window, close the program and try booting it up again.

I enjoyed to see this mix between nonograms and plataformer, however, I couldn't even get pass the first half despite how many times I tried through a couple of days.
The physics of the game make it a bit too complicated to go further from the spikes parts of the map, also the hitbox of the capibara makes some parts really hard to get through, making it almost luck-based since precise jumps are also adding to the difficulty since it looks like the capibara is always running and slipping.

I'm sorry you didn't have the best experience with the game, I've gotten a lot of feedback surrounding the game's platforming. even though this project is a few years old now, it's still getting players. so I definitely want to revisit this project sometime in the future to create a smoother platforming experience. thanks :)

I can't work out how to climb the vine, up and jump both aren't working 🤔️
ah, you should be able to just hold down space to climb! My apologies, I should have made that more clear- I've added a note to the project page :)
This is a really cool idea to combine nonograms with a platformer! The little capybara is so cute. Only thing I would say is that sometimes it felt a little hard to control and the platforming got a bit frustrating. Other than that I love it!
